Pigmentation is often one of the main concerns people have when it comes to post summer skin complaints. Products to treat it work in two key ways; most often they aim to interrupt the process that produces melanin (any ingredients target the enzyme Tyrosinase) or by actually breaking down existing pigment build up.

There are three key steps to help brighten the skin and promote a more even skin tone: Protect the skin from further UV stimulation that will darken existing pigmentation or cause new ones.

  • Reduce inflammation as this is a major trigger for many types of pigmentation.
  • Treat existing pigmentation with exfoliation to reduce visible build up and switching off new production by inhibiting the melanogenesis process with key ingredients.
  • There are two types of concerns that brightening products and treatments address; dull tired and uneven skin or clients suffering from more resistant hyper-pigmentation. Many of the new ingredients and treatments can improve both problems quite successfully but clearly resistant pigmentation will take longer to show improvements.
